José Emroca Flores made these paintings for the “I am 8-bit” show. They are not new but AWESOME!

My dear friends in I’m from Barcelona just got a new record out. Forever Today. I wish I had time to have a party and celebrate this. I gonna have my own release party for it next week instead. If you haven’t heard them, check them out.
I gonna give it to you straight out they’r a daft and silly. But they are adorable and many of their songs are original outlooks on life. Oh and they are like a whole bunch of people, like a million trillion. And they are almost always happy. Some of them are cute. Some of them are a bit too much. Some of them are really talented. Some are slacks. Sometimes they are too many. Some times too few.
Forever Today is also the name of my favorite books I’ve never finished, about Clive Wearing, a talented CBS who was stroke by amnesia. The book might be good in the beginning but get lousy in the end, can’t really say anything about it but the first half is scary and funny at the same time. Sweet and sour. It takes you deep inside what it means to be human.
Come on cheer up, head over to Spotify, WiMP or Itunes.

All robot’s report to the dance floor! I like to mess around with robot voice effects. I like the Sonovox, the Autotune, and the Talkbox but it’s the Vocoder that get the most love. Not only does it give the best sonic results, it also have a interesting history. For example it helped the U.S. and Great Britain have secure and secret phone calls when they made the plans for the D-day invasion. Read more »

February 20th, 2011

I found the photographer Irina Werning and her project ’Back tothe Future’ a week ago or so. The project consists of pairs of photographs taken with a long period between them which gives the spectator or at least me a feeling of almost seeing life and that we all still are children.

A skateboard movie which is just as much about skateboarding as Karate Kid is actually about karate. I saw this when it opened in New York this summer, it seems impossible to get a copy or see it again. No screenings in Sweden, no DVD to buy or any torrents to find.
At this point I’m Ismael, an hour of entertainment is my chewed leg and “Machotaildrop” is Moby Dick.

A movie about a crew of Trinidad kids now living in Queens, who built stereo systems on their BMX bikes. Really cool shit. Ch-ch-ch-check the trailer.
Filed in !AK, MoviesLast summer in a cramped, rented garage on the outskirts of Queens, NY something incredible was happening. Nicholas Ragbir, an imaginative tinkerer from Trinidad was working late into the nights creating something nobody had ever seen: enormously powerful stereo PA systems jerry rigged onto ordinary bmx bikes. It wasn’t long before Nick assembled a small crew of like-minded riders. Traveling together, each behind the handlebars of his or her own massive homemade creation, they treat the neighborhood to an outrageous impromptu music and dance party on wheels.
Mars Attacks!
February 12th, 2011

The plot is simple, aliens seems to come to earth in peace but starts to vaporize everything and everyone and someone has to be the hero and stop them. The same year Mars Attacks! was released (1996) another movie with a similiar plot, Independence day, was released. I loved that movie too but Mars Attacks! was way funnier and Independence Day hasn’t aged with grace but Mars Attacks! is still fun it’s an evergreen. GREEN!? I’m not green I’m GREY, STUPID HUMANS!!! February 4th, 2011
This intro still feels so cinematic… I love the harsh but fluid graphic expression the use of polygons instead of pixels gives this game.
Another World, also known as Out of This World in North America and Outer World in Japan, is a 1991 cinematic platformer designed and developed by Eric Chahi. The graphics and box art were designed by Chahi, while the music was composed by Jean-François Freitas.
Selling around 1 million copies in the 1990s, Another World was innovative in its use of cinematic effects in the graphics, sound and cut scenes, with characters communicating through their facial features, gestures, and actions only. This cinematic style granted Another World cult status amongst critics and fans. Eurogamer called it “one of the most visionary and memorable games of its time”.
Originally developed on an Amiga 500 for the Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, Apple IIGS and MS-DOS platforms, the game was widely ported to other contemporary systems. Later efforts resulted in several game engine recreations for the game that permitted it to run on modern computers, consoles and mobile phones.
In 2006, Chahi independently released a 15th Anniversary Edition for Windows which allowed the game to be played on modern computers with original or enhanced visuals.
A sequel, Heart of the Alien, was only released for the Mega CD.
The sequel kind of sucks though…
